A Community of Belonging:
Our Commitment to Inclusion and Growth
At ATTACh, we believe healing happens through connection. We are committed to fostering a community where every individual feels welcome, valued, respected, and empowered to participate fully.
We honor and embrace people of all backgrounds, identities, experiences, abilities, cultures, beliefs, family structures, and perspectives. We recognize that diversity enriches our collective understanding, strengthens our work, and advances our mission of promoting healing through attachment-focused, trauma-responsive practices.
Each of us comes to ATTACh as a unique cultural being, shaped by our lived experiences, identities, perspectives, beliefs, and practices. We recognize that these differences can deepen our learning and strengthen our collective work, while also acknowledging that perspectives and practices can have different impacts on people and communities.
We strive to create a “safe enough” and brave space where people can engage with curiosity, compassion, and respect. This means intentionally considering the lived experiences of people whose identities have been marginalized within social spaces and systems shaped by historically dominant identities. We seek to center impact alongside intention, recognizing that something can cause harm even when harm is not intended.
As a community, we engage in the daily and lifelong practices of cultural humility and cultural safety. We commit to listening, reflecting, and remaining open to learning when our words, actions, perspectives, or practices have a harmful impact. When we become aware that a perspective, belief, or practice is causing harm to people or communities we serve, we commit to pausing, learning, and considering what needs to change rather than relying solely on our intentions.
Whether we come together as children, adults, family members, caregivers, educators, therapists, physicians, researchers, advocates, or other helping professionals, we strive to create environments where belonging is experienced, differences are respected, and every voice can be heard.
We are committed to advancing accessibility, equity, and inclusion through humility and action—identifying and addressing barriers, challenging bias, and creating opportunities for meaningful participation, learning, leadership, and collaboration. We recognize that this is an ongoing process, requiring curiosity, accountability, and a willingness to grow.
We believe that we learn through connection. We seek to listen to one another, learn from lived experience, and continually examine our own assumptions and practices. When we know better, we strive to do better.
Guided by compassion, curiosity, connection, and accountability, ATTACh strives to be a community where all members can belong, learn, grow, heal, and thrive together.
Because connection is at the heart of healing, belonging is at the heart of ATTACh.
