The revamped ATTACh OT Certificate pathway, released in 2026, offers a comprehensive, three-level training experience designed to strengthen occupational therapists’ understanding and application of attachment- and trauma-informed care. Developed by OTs for OTs, OTAs, and others in pediatrics and family care. The pathway progresses from foundational neuroscience, attachment, and sensory regulation concepts (Level 1), to trauma-informed assessment, clinical reasoning, and intervention planning (Level 2), and culminates in advanced, interactive clinical mentorship and case consultation (Level 3). Through self-paced courses and live consultation, participants build the knowledge, confidence, and practical skills needed to navigate complex developmental histories and support safety, regulation, participation, and resilience in children and families.

Purchase trainings individually or purchase all three to bundle and save 25%.

Level 1) Roots of Safety: An OT’s Guide to Attachment and Trauma Foundations

This self‑paced, on‑demand course offers occupational therapists a clear, neurobiologically informed foundation for understanding trauma and disrupted attachment. Developed by OTs for OTs, it integrates sensory, relational, and psychological perspectives into a cohesive framework that supports clinicians already using sensory, developmental, or relational approaches. Through a four‑part learning experience, participants gain current neuroscience insights, updated attachment research, and OT‑specific strategies that prepare them for more advanced assessment and intervention in subsequent tiers of the ATTACh OT Certificate pathway.

  • 4-Session program, 4.5 CE credits provided through CIAO Seminars (TM)
  • Self-Paced, On-Demand Course for Occupational Therapists and OTAs.
  • Cost: $125 ATTACh Members | $150 Non-Members.

In Level 1, you will:

  • Build a current, integrated understanding of attachment, trauma, and sensory regulation
  • Develop sharper insights into why clients respond the way they do
  • Strengthen therapeutic use of self as a co-regulating partner
  • Learn updated strategies for creating safety, supporting state regulation, and responding to survival-driven behaviors
  • Establish the conceptual foundation needed for the practical assessment training in the second of the tiered pathway series

This is not an introductory course; it is a recalibration. A chance to align your clinical reasoning with the newest research and shared language that will anchor your growth in the ATTACh OT Certificate pathway. Designed for experienced therapists. Participants are typically OTs who: Work with adoption/foster care, neurodivergent children, or complex developmental histories.

Level 2) Mapping the Terrain: Attachment and Trauma-Informed Assessment and Clinical Decision Making in OT

  • 6-Session program, 6 CE credits provided through CIAO Seminars (TM)
  • Self-Paced, On-Demand Course for Occupational Therapists and OTAs.
  • Cost: $235 ATTACh Members | $285 Non-Members

You’ve built a strong foundation in attachment, trauma, and sensory regulation in Level 1: Roots of Safety: An OT’s Guide to Attachment and Trauma Foundations. Level 2 helps you apply that understanding with clarity and confidence. This next step in the ATTACh OT Certificate pathway focuses on assessment, clinical reasoning, and intentional intervention planning for complex trauma presentations. It supports occupational therapists in translating neurobiological and relational insight into ethical, effective practice.

In Level 2, you will learn how to:

  • Read nervous system states and attachment strategies during assessment
  • Interpret OT assessment tools without pathologizing survival responses
  • Develop integrated case formulations that guide treatment decisions
  • Understand the impact of empathy, shame, and resilience on participation
  • Sequence interventions from bottom-up regulation through executive functioning
  • Navigate multiple trauma frameworks while maintaining a strong OT identity

Level 2 is designed for occupational therapists who work with complex developmental histories and want greater confidence in what to assess, what to prioritize, and what to do next. If Level 1 helped you understand why clients respond the way they do, Level 2 helps you decide how to respond, and when.

Level 3) Navigating Complexity: Advanced Clinical Mentorship in Attachment, Trauma, and Occupational Therapy

  • 10-Session program, 20 CE credits pending approval through CIAO Seminars (TM)
  • Live, Interactive Webinar Course for Occupational Therapists and OTAs.
  • Cost: $445 ATTACh Members | $495 Non-Members

Level 3 consists of ten live, interactive clinical consultation sessions conducted over nine weeks. Each two-hour session centers on one participant’s comprehensive case presentation using the ATTACh OT Case Study Framework. Participants will present their case presentation according to specific guidelines provided in advance, followed by interactive discussion to focus on collaborative clinical reasoning, discussion, and advanced intervention planning rather than simply presenting information.

In Level 3, you will learn how to:

  • Analyze complex pediatric cases through multiple lenses, including attachment, trauma, sensory processing, development, nervous system regulation, family relationships, and environmental influences.
  • Identify the key factors affecting participation and determine which clinical priorities to address first.
  • Strengthen collaborative clinical reasoning through authentic case presentations, reflective discussion, and shared insights across diverse clinical situations.
  • Adapt intervention plans thoughtfully when initial approaches are ineffective or new information emerges.
  • Integrate evidence, clinical observation, therapeutic intuition, and occupational therapy reasoning to create individualized interventions with greater confidence, flexibility, and compassion.

Prerequisites:

  • Practicing OT or OTA
  • Minimum BA, BS Degree or equivalent (OT Students eligible to attend)
  • General knowledge and understanding of typical development, including sensory integration practice.
  • Completion of ATTACh’s Level 1 & 2 OT Attachment and Trauma Training
