Sensorimotor And OT Resources
Lloyd, S. (2016) Improving Sensory Processing in Traumatized Children. Jessica Kingsley Publishers.
This book covered all the sensory systems in plain language with an overview of neuroanatomy with easy language with parents and caregivers in mind.
Lynch, A., Ashcraft, R., and Tekell, L. (2021) Trauma, Occupation and Participation: Foundations and Population Considerations in Occupational Therapy. American OT Association.
This book is a great resource for discussion OT scope of practice in a variety of different contexts and contains multiple articles from different authors on topics such as resilience, partner violence, adoption, foster care, criminal justice system.
Smith, M. OTR/L (2021) The Connected Therapist self-published by Marti Smith Seminars.
Another book that covers the sensory systems in more depth and adds the regulatory piece from a TBRI perspective. She does an excellent job of describing practical ideas in terms of sensory diets to accommodate individual preferences and it makes for an interesting read.
