HOPE FOR LEARNING:

Early intervention trauma- and attachment-focused training for early childhood education and childcare professionals

Attachment ruptures and developmental trauma derails healthy development for young children. The effects of trauma and attachment is particularly challenging for educators and day care providers to address because young children often don’t express the distress that they are feeling in a way that’s easily recognizable, and they mask their pain with aggressive or off-putting behavior. It is vital that teachers, school staff, and childcare providers are aware of the signs of trauma and attachment issues and how to implement protective factors and respond appropriately.

Through Hope for Learning, teachers, school staff, and childcare professionals will:

LEARN

Understand developmental trauma and attachment, and impact in the classroom and childcare setting. Gain concrete intervention strategies, tools, and techniques to mitigate trauma- and attachment-related behaviors and reactions in children.

COMMUNICATE

Professionals will increase ability to communicate with parents and caregivers regarding children’s trauma- and attachment-related triggers, reactions, and behaviors.

SUPPORT

Understand the importance of recognizing strengths in a wide range of family structures, including families of BIPOC racial backgrounds, immigrant families, single parent families, foster, kin or adoptive families, and families headed by LGBTQ+ caregivers.

PREVENT SECONDARY TRAUMA AND BURNOUT

Secondary Trauma and Burnout Actions impact teachers and service professionals in many ways. Learn the symptoms and develop a reflective approach to self-care.
